Science
At Merstone School, we feel that Science is one of the most interesting subjects to learn and engage students in. Our intention and vision is to ensure our curriculum provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. We aim to ensure pupils are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science in a way that is accessible and exciting for all pupils working at all levels of the curriculum.
Through the teaching of science, we hope to foster a growth mind-set approach, where children will experience the joy of learning ‘how’ and ‘why’, whilst gaining valuable skills, such as gathering and making sense of evidence and generating and testing ideas, as well as the skills required to eventually become independent learners.
Before they leave us, our intention is to ensure all pupils are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for their future.
